Mr. Thewanga wanted some bamboo curtains over the outside of his French doors, but the structural logistics didn’t pan out. His second idea was to go for some more typical exterior bamboo roller shades, which he called us about.
Since this was a back door opening out onto a walled garden space, we didn’t have any passerby-related issues to worry about. The door was deep-framed and sheltered enough that it didn’t need tracks to secure the sheet of bamboo tubes in place, either. We installed a pair of double-width free-hanging bamboo shades on a single roller, with drawstring control fed through an insulated opening above the door.
